Sony, Hisense, JVC, Skyworth, Toshiba, Panasonic, TCL, Haier, and many other leading television manufacturers all offer smart TV models running on Android TV OS 7 or newer.

Check carefully before purchasing as these brands could also have models that use their own proprietary operating systems which do not support Showmax or Showmax Pro apps.

There are also many different media boxes available (some better than others) that run on the Android TV operating system – if it runs on Android 4.4.0 and newer, is not rooted, and has decent DRM (Digital Rights Management) support, it should* support Showmax and Showmax Pro.

*We are not able to test Showmax apps on every single device on the market – so it’s best to do some research and check the above with the manufacturer before purchasing.

You can easily check the version of Android on most devices by navigating to Settings > About. Note – this may vary from device to device.

Tip: In any Android mobile, tablet, or Android TV device, look for the highest spec from well-known mainstream brands that run on a recent version of Android (8 or higher recommended).

The device must not be rooted and must have proper DRM support.

We aren’t able to guarantee that Showmax Pro will work on every device due to the complexities of different components used by different manufacturers.

1. The application is available for free from the Google Play Store or Huawei AppGallery.
2. Launch the Google Play Store or Huawei AppGallery application on your Android device.
3. Search for Showmax.
4. If the Showmax app doesn’t appear in your search result, your Android device is not supported.
5. Install the free Showmax application.

You can create an account and subscribe directly on the Showmax app.

1. You can cast streaming content from the Showmax app for Android to devices that support Chromecast.
2. Ensure that you have the latest version of the Showmax app installed on your Android device and that it is connected to the same Wi-Fi as the Chromecast receiver.
3. Launch the Showmax app. Select the Chromecast icon and pair to your Chromecast receiver.
4. When you select content to cast, the content will play out via the Chromecast receiver.
5. To stop casting, select the Chromecast icon again and select Stop Casting.
6. The following Chromecast receivers are compatible: Google Chromecast (1st, 2nd Generation), Google Nexus Player.
7. Casting of live and downloaded content is not currently supported.

Chromecast is not available on Showmax Mobile and Showmax Pro Mobile plans.

HDCP stands for High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection. Showmax has implemented an HDCP and DRM requirement to protect its copyrighted content
