At Showmax, we know your privacy is a serious matter. We strive to ensure that our use of your personal data is lawful and reasonable, with the ultimate goal of delivering you the best service and viewing experience.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a new, European-wide law. It places greater obligations on how organisations handle personal data and comes into effect on 25 May 2018. Showmax follows the rules set by the GDPR.

Showmax privacy policy describes the rights you can exercise with respect to your data processed by Showmax. In summary, they are:

1. Access: You have the right to access your personal data;
2. Rectification: You can ask us to have inaccurate personal data amended;
3. Erasure: You can ask us to erase personal data; however, in certain circumstances we may be allowed or obliged to keep the data.
4. Object to marketing: You can object to processing your personal data for marketing purposes;
5. Object to other processing: You can object to processing of your personal data based on legitimate interest; we will comply unless we have a valid ground to continue processing the data;
6. Portability: You can ask us to receive your personal data that you provided to Showmax; and
7. Restriction: You can require your personal data to be restricted for processing in certain circumstances.

You can request a copy of your Showmax data in the My Data section of My Account on the Showmax website. We will then send an email to your registered email address with a link to download your data. The link is valid for seven days, and you may be required to sign in again when accessing the link. The downloadable ZIP file should be decompressed and contains one or more machine readable, open format HTML files which can be viewed in your web browser or used to migrate to other services.

You can exercise your rights and lodge requests to Showmax using the My Data section in My Account on the Showmax website. Should you have any problems with exercising your rights you may contact us for assistance.

You may object to direct email marketing communications from us by indicating your preference in the Marketing Preferences section in My Account on the Showmax website. You may also unsubscribe using the link included in every direct email marketing communication, it may take a few days for this request to be processed. You cannot unsubscribe from service related emails.

In the Marketing Preferences section in My Account on the Showmax website you may also opt-out from receiving push messages, or from having your data processed for marketing purposes.
